CLASS DESCRIPTION Art is seen as being fundamental in the education of young children. Through art children are able to generate work which expresses their ideas and demonstrate personal responses to a variety of subjects. Art is integrated into all the learning areas. The exploring, creating, and expressive aspects of art help develop self-confidence and self-acceptance. The content areas of art are designed so that they are integrated throughout the curriculum and can thus be seen as a means of communication. The areas are designed so that the process of art is the most important aspect, and not the finished product. The areas of study also take into account the development of fine motor skills. By the end of kindergarten, students will use skillfully paints, markers, crayons, scissors and glue, finish a project to their own satisfaction, continue to develop their creative and artistic expression, and be able to represent people and objects in their drawings. |
