I went to the Box a mixed cultural salon last night … met with Louise Bak, the host of the show for the first time. Interesting figure … the way she talks is quite smooth and elegant … makes sense that she is also a radio host . For some reasons to me she sounds like someone from 100 years ago. I can imagine my grandmother might have spoken like that (though she was one of the first female medical doctors in Japan … she couldn’t have been that seductively spoken …).
“The Box is a quarterly salon night of readings, performances, screenings, interventions and networking that aims to bring diverse communities and audiences into an environment of artistic and social intermingling( from its website).” It was nice to see some artists and writers whom I knew … I liked the vibe among the audience … very supportive and accepting.
